News ReleaseAir Products Receives Three More Sustainability Recognitions in China

Recognitions are Further Testimony to Company’s Outstanding Contributions to Talent Development and Corporate Responsibility Performance

21/07/2017 Shanghai, China

Air Products (NYSE: APD), a world-leading industrial gases company, has recently received three more sustainability recognitions for its outstanding contributions and continued support to China’s economic and social development. The company was named one of the Top 3 Most Attractive Employers in the chemical industry and Top 100 Most Attractive Employers overall, as well as a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Role Model.

The two employer recognitions were bestowed upon Air Products by a group of Chinese university students majoring in natural sciences. In an annual Chinese Student Survey conducted by Universum, a global talent company specializing in employer branding in China, Air Products was selected as one of the Top 3 Most Attractive Employers in the chemical industry for the first time, and Top 100 Most Attractive Employers overall for the fifth consecutive year, leaping 47 positions from last year. The survey also revealed that, in the eyes of China’s Post-95s talent, the company is highly associated with “commitment to diversity and inclusion”, “innovation” and “enabling me to integrate personal interests in my schedule.”

This year, approximately 80,000 students in a variety of fields from 110 top universities across the country participated in the survey, with 152,328 individual evaluations of 233 employers.

In addition, Air Products received the CSR Role Model honor for its good public image and outstanding community outreach efforts at the 6th China Finance Summit held 19-20 July in Beijing. It was among 15 winning companies selected from over 700 candidates by a judging panel based on company culture, social contribution, innovation capability, financial growth, brand influence and industry position.

The summit, co-organized by over 30 China mainstream media since 2012, is a platform for leaders and representatives from the governments, institutions, media, and domestic and multinational companies to share business wisdom. Air Products has also received the Best Brand Image Award at the summit for the past three consecutive years.

“These prestigious recognitions are a good testimony to Air Products’ long-term commitment to China and a great achievement that all our employees here can feel proud of,” said Saw Choon Seong, China president, Industrial Gases, at Air Products. “We have been serving the China market for 30 years and earned a reputation as a responsible corporate citizen. As China continues to drive sustainable growth in its 13th Five-Year Plan period, we will continue to support the fulfillment of the ‘Chinese Dream’ through talent development and more community efforts.”

Air Products has been helping manufacturers in China improve productivity, efficiency, quality and environmental performance since 1987 through its strong local position, as well as innovative and sustainable solutions. To develop and inspire future talent, the company has collaborated with leading local universities and other parties on various efforts such as research and development, best practice and knowledge transfer, campaign sponsorships, scholarships, internships, and more. On community outreach, one of its continuing efforts is the LIN (liquid nitrogen) Ambassador Program to demonstrate to local schools and communities the application of gas science in our daily lives through experiments. Recently, the company participated in a donation campaign by a customer to help underprivileged families with children suffering from liver diseases.
